Resurrection Day!
Here are some pictures from Easter 2009. We went to my parents house in New Braunfels and enjoyed going through the Resurrection Day Eggs at breakfast, then going to church, participating in an egg hunt at the Ski Lodge, and hanging out the rest of the day. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable celebration of Christ's resurrection.

Bluebonnets
Bluebonnets are one of my favorite things. I am so glad to live in a place where they are everywhere in the Spring. I love bluebonnet pictures too. I don't think i will ever get tired of them, especially when it's my little beauties among them. Happy Spring!

Owen is 6!
Better late than never. Owen turned 6 at the end of March. That sounds so old! He is still my little man though. He is playing soccer right now and loves it. He and Cody have really begun to show how mature they are becoming. They are finding things that they have in common and have truly bonded as friends, not just brothers. I love to see this unfolding! We pray for many more birthdays to celebrate together!

Charasmatic Claire
Here are some pictures of my sweet Claire. She is 3 1/2 and is very dramatic. These pics are of her singing a song that she made up. I hope you can see her facial expressions. She is so animated as she sings. Best of all, these songs she makes up are about God. It really amazes me how easily she comes up with all the words. They just flow out of her mouth in praise and worship to the Lord. Maybe we have a future worship leader on our hands?? The bottom left pic is of her loving on our lamb Clementine. She has such a sweet, gentle way with the lambs. We call her Little Bo Peep!

What's in your Spit???
I know that sounds really gross and i'll spare you pictures, but we now know what's in our spit here at the Davis house! I recently discovered that 5 of us have yeast overgrowth in our bodies-Yuck! This explains a lot of symptoms that we and our children have been having, like major sugar cravings, hyper-activity, sleeplessness, recurrent ear infections, etc. I ran across a website that not only helps you figure out if you have yeast overgrowth, but also how to treat it and beat it, and all the info is free. So we are now on a candida diet overhaul. That means way limiting or eliminating all sugar and yeast and taking lots of supplements until we can get this under control. I am in the process of figuring out which supplements will work for us and how to go about life without yeast and sugar. The diet calls for even more strict diet restrictions, but we are starting gradually and will work to get our children used to this idea a little at a time.
So, do you want to know if you or your family have a candida overgrowth? The spit test is very easy. It may not be the most precise testing, but it seems to give results.
Set out a glass of water one night for each person you are testing. You need to use glass so you can see in it. The next morning, have each person spit 2 times in the glass as soon as they wake up. Then wait and/or watch....
If your spit dissapates or disappears, you are fine.
If your spit sinks to the bottom, is webby, or stringy, you have a yeast over growth.
If you see brown settlement at the bottom, you have parasites!
As I said, 4 out of 5 of us had signs of a yeast overgrowth. I can't test the baby because she won't spit on demand ; ), but i am quite sure she has this too.
If you have ever been on antibiotics, you can assume you probably have a yeast overgrowth. Yeast is a fungus and thrives on sugar, yeast, and mold. I didn't realize that cheese can be considered in the mold family because it is aged so long. We LOVE cheese! And sugar is in everything. You really have to learn to read labels and look for this stuff in addition to preservatives, hydrogenated oils, and Monosodiumglutamate (MSG).
The website has lots of info on how to do all of this and i recommend checking it out www.yeastinfectionadvisor.com Let me know if you try the spit test, and what your results are!

More Than Alive
For the last 3 or so years I have been using Super Mom vitamins and other products made by a company called Beeyoutiful. They have amazing natural health and wellness products available. I also buy dried herbs to make my own capsules from a company called Bulk Herb Store. Then there is No Greater Joy, who have parenting and family resources.
Ordering from each of these companies individually can add up to a lot of shipping charges. Then I discovered More Than Alive. This company carries all of the products from these 3 resources along with several others all in one website. Best of all they offer free shipping for all orders of $75 or more. Sometimes I have a big enough order by myself to get free shipping and when I don't, i call someone who also buys these products and we combine our orders. Very easy to do!
Here's some of the products I (we) use and their descriptions:
Super Mom/Super Dad/Super Kids
Beeyoutiful’s SuperMom multi-vitamin is the supplement that made the company so well known. When you take the recommended 2 tablets or 4 capsules each day, you take in a powerhouse of energy to keep you well during the stresses of teen growth spurts, pregnancy, lactation, mothering, and
aging.
Many of the vitamins and minerals exceed daily requirements. All of the folic acid you need is there, making SuperMom a great vitamin to take all the time. That way, if you’re blessed with a pregnancy, you’ll be well stoked up on this critical aid for avoiding possible birth defect from the start. SuperMom also reduces or eliminates swelling and nausea during pregnancy. And it excels at helping your body make rich, healthy breast milk.
Vitamins A and D—which Weston Price noted are crucial for delivering healthy offspring—are present in full force. The all-important B-vitamins, which support the nervous system, are well represented as are abundant minerals to cover for the depleted soils in which most of our fruits and vegetables are grown. Lycopene, from real tomatoes, provides antioxidant protection from free radicals.
SuperMom builds oxygen-rich blood to keep you energized by supplying iron from amino acid chelate, the easiest form of iron for the body to absorb. Additional blood enrichment comes from chlorophyll—present as a stand-alone ingredient and also as part of superfoods like spirulina and chlorella, as well as barley grass and alfalfa juice.
Bone Ami
The liquid bottle is 16 fl. oz. / the tablet bottle is 250 tablets of Calcium and Magnesium supplemented with Boron and Vitamin D.
NEW Formula reduces separation! Guar gum has been added and the
manufacturing process altered. We really love how it turned out and hope you do too!
Bone Ami - friend of my bones!
"The arthritis in my back injuries faded away within two days of taking this great tasting liquid supplement. I found that standing up straight was actually comfortable, and many of my elderly friends who have tried Bone Ami have said the same."
"Pregnancy especially takes it's toll on a woman's bones, and I highly recommend taking Bone Ami along with SuperMom as a prenatal." ~ Rebekah Anast
Our modern diets are lacking in natural sources of calcium, magnesium, and boron. Prevention is the best medicine, and no matter how young or old you are, a bone supplement can ensure a strong healthy frame. There are a myriad of calcium tablets available on the market today, but more often than not, our systems cannot absorb calcium alone and in tablet form. Bone Ami covers all the bases of bone health and comes in a great tasting liquid form that our bodies can easily access.
Spirulina
Spirulina is an exceptionally potent nutrient substance that has shown strong activity in many areas. It is the source of one of the most easily digestible forms of protein; it is 85 percent protein, compared with 20 percent in beef. It contains all the essential amino acids and most of the nonessential ones. In addition, it is extremely high in vitamins and minerals.
Spirulina has been found to be hepatoprotective and antihepatotoxic in several in vivo studies, protecting the liver against CCl4 – induced hepatoxicity. Spirulina also contains phycocyanin, a blue-pigment biliprotein that has been shown in scientific studies to inhibit formation of cancer cell colonies.
Micro-algae, which is highly nutritious and an excellent source of protein, chlorophyll, vitamins and minerals and amino acids. It has 26 times the calcium of milk, contains phosphorus, B12, RNA and DNA, and easily digested. It is a safe food with no side effects. It would be good for survival purposes as it is easy to store. Has sometimes been called “Manna of the future.” It has been tested in Japan and Europe and found to benefit people who suffer from many ailments including: anemia, cataracts, diabetes, gastrointestinal disorders, glaucoma, hepatitis, physical imbalances, aids weight loss.
*I take this to help give me more energy. I make my own capsules and take 4 a day in addition to the SuperMom vits. I also give them to my hubbie. I add a little cayene pepper to the top of each capsule for blood circulation.*
SOS for PMS- Tea
"Everyone knows the phrase “that time of the month.” It’s a “time” no woman looks forward to, or at least I’ve never met a woman who did. For many, it involves some kind of pain or discomfort such as bloating, depression, headaches, weight gain, cravings, etc. For a small percentage it’s not “that big of a deal,” but nonetheless women tolerate it only because there is no way to avoid it.
Through study, I found particular herbs to use for each of the symptoms I experience during my cycle. After months of experimenting, I arrived at what a friend dubbed SOS for PMS. All my reading led me to conclude that this recipe would provide key nutrients a woman’s body tends to be low on before and during her bleeding. Therefore, drinking this tea should prevent some of the common symptoms of PMS by supplying those needed nutrients.
After only one month of use, I found it to be amazingly effective. Not only did my bleeding lessen, but there was no bloating, no headaches, and no cramps. Wow! Eager to share my findings, I sent my tea blend to a number of friends and family members. All have given it raving reviews. It accomplishes its intended purpose, and tastes great in the process. I am amazed at how something so simple could make that dreaded time much more bearable.
And so began a monthly ritual of drinking a few cups a day of this blend the week before and the week of my cycle. I add one tablespoon of the blend for every cup of boiling water. Then, turn off heat, and steep covered 15 to 20 minutes.
I’ve also found other uses for it, such as during pregnancy, for postpartum healing, and even to increase and enrich milk production." Joy Robles
*This product has been unavailable for a while so I bought the individual herbs to make my own tea mixture. I drink one large mug full twice a day the week before and during and have lessened and shorten my cycle!!! I also take Bone Ami twice a day because a calcium/magnesium deficiency can cause PMS symptoms too.*
